Team Name: The Urban Team • Language Focus: Urdu – (20 hours a week)
South Asia is a heady fusion of colors, languages, and flavors. Home to megacities filled with numerous people groups, it has become a strategic center for missions.
The Urdu speaking Muslims in this region have historically been overlooked by the missions-minded. Generally closed to the Gospel message, this people group will only be reached by those willing to learn their language.
By immersing yourself in the dialect and culture for seven weeks, you’ll gain an insider look at what God is doing in one of the most populous places on the planet and discover what He’s calling you to.
Qualifications
- Born again believer for more than 2 years
- Active in a local church for more than 1 year
- Native English speaker
- Able to spend several hours a day sitting and listening
- Team player and encourager of teammates
- Able to endure stressful situations with grace
- Able to tolerate hot temperatures outdoors
What to Expect
- 100 hours of language tutoring
- Learning more than 1,000 spoken words
- Learning through listening and playing games
- Studying 4 hours every day, Sunday–Thursday
- Personal & team ministry while outside of class
- Weekend retreats on Fridays and Saturdays
